Fuel efficiency is dependent on many parameters of a vehicle, including its engine parameters, aerodynamic drag, weight, AC usage, fuel and rolling resistance. There have been advances in all areas of vehicle design in recent decades. Fuel efficiency of vehicles can also be improved by careful maintenance and driving habits. Hybrid vehicles use two or more power sources for propulsion. In many designs, a small combustion engine is combined with electric motors. Kinetic energy which would otherwise be lost to heat during braking is recaptured as electrical power to improve fuel efficiency. Engines automatically shut off when vehicles come to a stop and start again when the accelerator is pressed preventing wasted energy from idling.

High-Speed Imaging of Fuel Injection in Automotive Engines

Many high-speed phenomena occur in the field of automobiles. These include the observations and analysis of the fuel injection process to assist the development of low-fuel-consumption engines. The HPV-X2 can take 256 consecutive images at up to 10 million frames per second at up to 100-kpixel resolution to meet the demands for observing high-speed phenomena, such as fuel injection.

Quantitative Analysis of Waste Oil by EDX-7000

In recent years, elemental analysis by EDX has been increasing due to the heightened concern for the environment. Even waste oil can quickly and easily be analyzed by EDX by merely pouring it as is into a container.
